Background

This highly rational investment professional chose to do an UP to earn as much money as possible and donate most of it to impactful charities. He wanted to find every area of low-hanging fruit to enhance his performance as an investment professional. He was incredibly focused on his work and already living a great life when he began his UP, which led to some difficulties in tackling projects with longer-term payback periods.

Methods

The participant’s UP included specialized coaching from a carefully selected coach, access to a team of behavior change experts and assistants, and use of 50+ digital behavior change tools. He set a number of short-term and long-term goals at the beginning of his UP. His team helped him advance on these goals through periodic calls, daily administrative and research work, and some ad hoc higher-level task completion.
